Located in the city of Highland, Silver Lake is a picturesque 90-acre lake in DuPage County. Silver Lake sits just a few miles off the western shore of Fox River and is 16 miles south of Pistakee Lake, part of the Chain O’Lakes system.

Lake Amenities and Regulations

Swimming, wading, or water skiing is not permitted on Silver Lake. Boaters, hunters, and anglers are responsible for abiding by all state, federal, and city ordinances related to fish, game, and boating. Also, fishing is not permitted on or along either side of the Spillway along Route 143.

There is still a ton of fun to be found on this lake. Fishing, five pavilions, a playground, a sand volleyball court, an archery range, 4.5 miles of hiking trails, a climbing wall, a boat ramp, an 18-hole disc golf course, waterfowl hunting, an arboretum, and a gazebo are the activities residents can find on the lake. There are plenty of ways to enjoy your time on Silver Lake.

Swimming on the Chain O’Lakes

One of the more popular attractions near Silver Lake is the highly trafficked Chain O’Lakes waterway system. The Chain O’Lakes system is made up of fifteen lakes that all sit in Lake County. The Chain is reported to be the busiest inland recreational waterway per acre in the United States.

Due to the large size of the 7,000-acre Chain O’Lakes region, there is a plethora of shops, restaurants, vacation rentals, and attractions for the family to enjoy.
